One of the best things about living in Raleigh is easy access to the North Carolina Museum of Art.  This spring I had the opportunity to visit the Ansel Adams: Masterworks  exhibit. Like nearly every photographer ever, I have been inspired by  Adams and his work since before I even picked up a camera.

It was amazing to see his carefully chosen and printed images in person.  There is so much to be admired in his technical expertise and attention  to detail, but I also enjoyed learning more about his philosophy of  photography as an art form and as an expression of appreciation for the  natural world. He wrote,

"a great photograph is one that fully expresses what one feels, in the deepest sense, about what is being photographed."

This resonates with me, because my photography is an expression of love  of our beautiful and historic places in North Carolina and across the  country, and I hope to inspire that same appreciation in everyone who views my images.
